The City of Carlsbad operates on a July to June fiscal year. The city budget has three main sections, the Operating Budget, which covers the day to day work of the city, like providing police and fire services, libraries, parks and recreation, and other core services; the plan for investing in digital infrastructure; and the Capital Improvement Program, which covers major construction projects.

Setting priorities

The annual budget includes work plans and resources to accomplish the goals in the City Council's 5-Year Strategic Plan. The plan includes five main goals that reflect the values most important to the Carlsbad Community. The city also gathers input throughout the year at meetings, workshops, online surveys and more. Preventing catalytic converter theft

Post Date:09/16/2021

Catalytic converter theft is still on the rise nationwide and in Carlsbad. Why? Because of the valuable metals inside the converter that can be sold. At this point, you probably know someone that has had their catalytic converter stolen. What is the most targeted car? Toyota Prius. Yet, that is not the only targeted car. So, protecting your catalytic converter is recommend for everyone.

What is the best protection? Consult your mechanic to know the best solutions for your type of car but some options are

  • Cat Shield
  • Cat Clamp
  • Cat Lock
  • Engrave your VIN or license plate number on your converter

What else can you do?

  • Park carefully
  • In the garage is always best.
  • Under a light. Consider motion lights that come on when someone approached your car.
  • As close to your house as possible.
  • If you cannot park in your garage, consider surveillance cameras that send an alert to your phone.
  • Report suspicious activity and crime, when it is occurring, 24/7.

Officers will be out in the community looking for thieves -24/7. When trends occur, the Police Department meets as a team to discuss analysis driven strategies to stop the trend. The community is a valuable part of our team. If you see something, say something. Thanks for your participation.
