The City of Carlsbad is seeking residents interested in filling several vacancies on city advisory boards, commissions and committees.

Are you interested in volunteering alongside others to help make Carlsbad better for all? If so, please consider applying to serve on one of our city advisory commissions, boards or committees.

Members volunteer their time to study issues and policies and make recommendations to the City Council on matters that affect our community. 

Applications are available on the city’s website and must be submitted by noon on May 31 to be considered for the following vacancies:

• Housing Commission – One unscheduled vacancy. Applicants must be enrolled in Rental Assistance and be age 62 or older. Advises and makes recommendations to the City Council for the promotion of housing security and affordability for all segments of our community.
• Agricultural Conversion Mitigation Fee Committee – Six scheduled vacancies. Makes recommendations to the City Council for proposed expenditures from the Agricultural Conversion Mitigation fee fund.
• Beach Preservation Commission – Two scheduled vacancies. Investigates and reports on topics or studies related to beach and bluff erosion, including lagoons and jetties, as directed by the City Manager and City Council.
• Library Board of Trustees – One scheduled vacancy. Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Advising and making recommendations to the City Council on matters relating to the operation of the city library system
• Recommending contractual arrangements and mutual agreements with other libraries, cities and the county for borrowing, lending and exchanging books and other publications
• Serving as liaison between the library and the community
• Reporting the condition of the library to the City Council and the state librarian on an annual basis.
