Registration opens for fall classes and programs

As summer draws to a close and the school year approaches, it's time to gear up for the school year with an exciting lineup of afterschool activities offered by the City of Carlsbad, from sports lessons to art classes and more. We also offer a variety of programs for adults who want to stay active. The complete program schedule is now available in the city’s Fall Community Services Guide. Registration opens on August 16.

Here is just a small sample of this year’s offerings:

  • L.I.T.E. Afterschool Program where 6th to 9th graders will develop skills in leadership, teamwork, communication and community service.
  • Babysitting Training where participants ages 11 to 16 will learn child safety and basic care for infants and children.
  • Sports Classes for youth and adult participants interested in learning tennis, karate, dance and swimming.
  • Preschool programs for kids ages 1 through 6 to practice hands-on learning, sensory development and social skills.
  • Painting Like the Masters where young artists will paint on acrylics in the styles of Matisse, Monet and Van Gogh.
  • Carlsbad Cruisers where adults 18+ join a weekly walk around Carlsbad while making new friends.
