Seeking Public Art Proposals for New Fire Station 2

Post Date:07/15/2021 12:09 PM

The City of Carlsbad's Library & Cultural Arts Department is seeking artist proposals to develop site-integrated artwork for the city’s new Fire Station 2 located at the intersection of El Camino Real and Arenal Road. This particular location provides the artist with a blank canvas to develop a high-impact, visual experience that will be meaningful to the firefighters who work there. The project will continue to increase the community’s interest in public art, as well as heighten the visibility of artists and the arts in Carlsbad.

Public Art Coordinator Tonya Rodzach shared, “We are thrilled to have this opportunity for a new public art piece in our city’s collection. Architectural elements of Fire Station 2 lend themselves to a lighting installation and/or a treatment to the glass panels and façades that reflect the values of the city’s firefighters and drive the forward momentum to be innovative with every approach.”
