Building plans are required for most building permit applications. The level of complexity of the building plans will depend on the type of building project. New structures, extensive remodels and tenant improvements will require detailed plan sets prepared by qualified professional engineers and/or architects. Small projects such as patio covers and spas require more simplified plans and can be prepared by owners or contractors. Review the Permitting Process to view more information about the building plan review and approval process. You can also view work exempt from building permits for more information.

Minimum Submittal Requirements:

  • Residential - three (3) sets of plans, two (2) sets of supplemental documents
  • Commercial - four (4) sets of plans, two (2) sets of supplemental documents

Note, all plans must be signed by the plan preparer prior to permit issuance.

Effective July 15, 2022 the City implemented a new procedure for reproducing building plans on file with the City. Anyone from the public is able to come in to our office and view building plans from any property; but in order to obtain a copy of the plans, the new procedure must be followed.
