Tours

Free weekend tours 

Individuals and small groups are invited to join us every Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. for a walking tour of the ranch. The approximately 90-minute tours include a visit to Leo’s historic hacienda and beautiful grounds as well as the 3-tiered stable and restored bunkroom. Please be prepared for uneven ground and stairs.

Free botanical toursLeo Carrillo garden

Botanical walking tours are returning to Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park! Tours will take place every second Friday of the month at 9:30 a.m. Guests meet in the parking lot, and the tour will last approximately 90 minutes. Tours are free and do not require reservations.

Botanical experts and docents Pat Linton and Mike Blanco will lead the tours around the Ranch and talk about rich diversity of plant life at the Ranch.

The Ranch also provides historical and botanical tour guides available in English and Spanish for those touring the park.

Private tours for groups

Private tours are offered for private groups or commercial tours wishing to include Leo Carrillo Ranch on their itinerary.

Summer camp kids

Camps & classes

If you’re looking for ways for your kids to stay active and engaged, the City of Carlsbad offers some fun and exciting camps and classes with an emphasis on art, science and history surrounded by nature and historic buildings.

Spring and summer camps and year-round classes like Ecological Adventures, Radical Reptiles, Creative Writing, yoga and more are available.

We can help troops earn badges and patches. We offer scheduled 90-minute workshops which provide ample time to earn a badge and have lots of Girl Scouts fun! Please call 442-339-5042 for more information.

Daisy uniform patchDaisy Outdoor Art Maker Workshop: Learn how to look at the natural world through the eyes of an artist! Scouts will discover why there are so few pink insects, make their own flower crown and complete all badge requirements. 

Brownie uniform patchBrownie Bug Badge Workshop: Explore the world of bugs! Scouts will experiment to find out what food ants like best, build a bee house for our native solitary bees and complete all badge requirements.
