Genealogy Class – DNA Interest Group

Unknown Parentage

Presented by Kitty Munson Cooper

The basics of unknown parentage research using DNA testing has enabled many to find unknown biological parents. The methodology is to build the trees of close DNA matches to find where the families meet. Then a tree is built down from there and back from the candidate. Kitty will discuss the many automated tools that help with this process as well as discuss a number of solved cases that demonstrate how to do that.

This hybrid program is offered in-person and virtually. Speaker will be in-person.

Doors open at 12:30 p.m.

Register here to attend.

Genealogy events are presented through a partnership between the Carlsbad City Library and the North San Diego County Genealogical Society (NSDCGS).

The Human Genome Project made DNA testing affordable and available for genealogists. Learn from the HGP to help understand your DNA and health reports.
