Carlsbad has long been a leader in water conservation, recycled water and desalination, and now a new program is available for those who want to find ways to save even more water. Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is offering a free virtual home survey, where an auditor will meet with residents and share key information and training, including:
- Recommendations for reducing water waste
- A review of indoor devices to check for leaks, damage or inefficiencies
- Evaluation of the home’s water meter to check for leaks
- Irrigation controller training and zone/station information
- Identification of irrigation problems
- Review of issues that contribute to higher water use, such as valve malfunctions, high or low pressure, sprinkler misalignment, poor draining, breaks and leaks, and runoff
- Rebate information
Surveys are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis, and funding is limited. To request a survey, complete an online application.
