National traffic safety trends show a dramatic increase in traffic-related deaths, with the first quarter of 2022 showing the highest number of deaths in two decades.

The City of Carlsbad's traffic safety emergency proclamation allowed us to focus increased resources and attention on the three Es of traffic safety, education, engineering and enforcement, using the framework of the Safer Streets Together Plan.

On July 18, the Carlsbad City Council will discuss proposed improvements to safety and mobility at the intersection of Carlsbad Boulevard and Tamarack Avenue.

Members of the community may attend this public meeting and provide comment to the City Council. 

Email clerk@carlsbadca.gov  

In person at City Hall, July 18, meeting starts at 5 p.m.  

Next steps: 

  • City Council will review and select the preferred intersection design option
  • The city will complete the final design, conduct an environmental analysis and put the project out to bid.
  • The soonest construction could begin is late 2025. Project construction is expected to take about a year to complete.
