As we approach the 54th anniversary of Earth Day, mark your calendars to join the city at events celebrating Earth Month this April. Each Saturday will be filled with activities to help you reduce your environmental impact and live more sustainably. Our commitment to environmental sustainability, a priority in the 5-Year Strategic Plan, lies at the heart of our initiatives.

Whether you’re ready to freshen up your garden this spring, want to join a community cleanup, or need to declutter responsibly, there’s an opportunity for everyone to get involved.

• April 6: Jumpstart your Earth Month journey at the Earth Month Celebration and Compost & Mulch Giveaway at Pine Park. The event will focus on food waste prevention and offer a convenient way to pick up compost and mulch.
• April 13: Bring broken items to the Fixit Clinic for repair and responsibly dispose of old electronics at the E-Waste Collection event at Dove Library.
• April 20: Join I Love A Clean San Diego for the annual Creek to Bay Cleanup event. Registration opens on April 1, and Carlsbad locations tend to fill up quickly.
• April 27: Bring sensitive documents for recycling to the Shred and Recycle It! event and donate household items and clothing at Donate, Don’t Waste. Registration for the shred event will open on the Republic Services website on Monday, March 25, at 9 a.m.
