The Carlsbad Municipal Water District (CMWD) has been recognized as a 2021 Utility of the Future Today by the Water Environment Federation and partner agencies.

As one of only 39 utilities that were recognized this year nationwide, CMWD stood out for advancing environmental sustainability, specifically for its well-developed water reuse program via purple pipe recycled water distribution throughout the district.

In addition to establishing successful water reuse programs for the city, CWMD was also recognized for maintaining a culture of innovation and collaboration that embraces continual improvement as team members gain and share knowledge on advancements in water sustainability and reclamation.
