Community members in Carlsbad have expressed concern about a recent uptick in residential burglaries, which appear to be part of an organized ring targeting high value items that are easy to turnaround and sell.

Finding solutions to airport noise
The City Council continues to explore ways to reduce noise resulting from planes flying in and out of Palomar Airport. The challenge is that the County of San Diego operates the airport and the FAA controls flight paths.

DUI checkpoint scheduled for February 17 in Carlsbad
The City of Carlsbad Police Department will conduct a driving under the influence (DUI) checkpoint on Saturday, Feb. 17, from approximately 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. at an undisclosed location.

New pickleball courts coming
Just three and a half months after approving an updated Parks & Recreation Department master plan that showed the increasing popularity of pickleball in Carlsbad, the City Council has approved locations for the design and construction of eight new outdoor courts.

Affordable housing report
A visionary approach to funding affordable housing more than 30 years ago has resulted in the creation of 2,300 homes in Carlsbad affordable for those making between 30% to 80% of the area’s median income.

EV charging stations in Carlsbad
Environmental sustainability is one of the major goals in the City Council’s 5-Year Strategic Plan. One of the ways the city promotes sustainability is by installing EV chargers around Carlsbad and requiring certain new development to include EV chargers in their projects.

School resource officers approved
