Calling parents of fourth-grade students! Join the Carlsbad Municipal Water District's Water Awareness Month calendar contest. If your child loves expressing themselves with crayons, markers, or colored pencils, encourage them to submit artwork highlighting how they "Love Water, Save Water." July is smart irrigation month

Post Date:07/13/2022 9:45 AM

The City of Carlsbad is encouraging residents and businesses to complete a quick irrigation tune-up during smart irrigation month to help save water, lower their water bills, prevent runoff and earn rebates.

The Carlsbad Municipal Water District has compiled resources to make it easier to conserve even more water:

  • Residents can earn rebates by replacing their grass lawns with water wise plants or switching to a smart irrigation controller.
  • Free water saving checkups are available to receive site-specific recommendations.
  • A new outdoor watering schedule is in place.
    • Even numbered addresses water on Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
    • Odd-numbered addresses water on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.
    • Apartments, condos and businesses water on Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
    • Water between 6 p.m. and 10 a.m. on assigned days, for 10 minutes per station. Tip: Split that time to 5 minutes twice a day.
  • Preventing runoff can save water and protect our stormwater system from pollutants. Fixing broken or blocked irrigation fixtures will help ensure sprinklers are watering the yard, not the sidewalk.

Last month, the Carlsbad Municipal Water District asked residents and businesses to take action to save even more water to meet state regulatory requirements and respond to statewide drought conditions. View the latest water rules.
