About the Utilities Department
Carlsbad Municipal Water District provides reliable water and wastewater services for pennies a day, while protecting the natural environment and meeting or exceeding strict water quality requirements.
Carlsbad Municipal Water District provides water service to most of the City of Carlsbad, but some parts of the city are served by other districts for water and for wastewater. View the maps below to find your provider. For properties in the southern portion of the city, contact the Olivenhain Municipal Water District, Leucadia Wastewater District or Vallecitos Water District (water and sewer) for utility service sign-ups, disconnects, installations and payment arrangements.
Carlsbad Conserves
Even with recent rain and more in the forecast, California remains in an historic ongoing drought. In Carlsbad, conservation will always be important and the city continues to be a regional leader in water conservation and recycled water.
Residents who have traded their grass lawns for water-wise landscapes are invited to pick up a Carlsbad Conserves yard sign to show their commitment to saving water. Free signs are available at any of the three Carlsbad City Library locations.
Carlsbad Municipal Water District is also promoting resources that can help residents save even more water:
- Turf replacement rebates are available starting at $2 per square foot, along with additional water-saver rebate programs while they last
- Discounted rain barrels are available for Carlsbad residents through Nov. 30, 2022
- A free home WaterSmart checkup can provide personalized recommendations for saving water
- Follow the current water rules and the watering days schedule
