San Diego Startup Week Launches Oct. 23 in Carlsbad

Post Date:10/19/2023 8:00 AM

The 11th annual San Diego Startup Week conference for local entrepreneurs begins Monday, Oct. 23, in Carlsbad. The first day of the event will be held at Carlsbad New Village Arts at 2787 State St, Carlsbad, and will focus on celebrating the "Creative Coast."

City of Carlsbad Chief Innovation Officer David Graham will speak on a panel of experts on the topic of “Building the Startup Ecosystem," and the city’s Economic Development Manager Matt Sanford will address attendees at the opening reception.

Carlsbad has earned a reputation as a hub for innovation and startups, along with businesses at all stages of growth. The hundreds of companies in Carlsbad provide multiple benefits for our community, including driving innovation, creating local jobs and generating revenue that flows into the city. In 2021, local companies drew $1 billion in venture funding to Carlsbad.

The San Diego Startup Week conference aims to educate attendees about the practical requirements to become successful innovators. The event is expected to attract hundreds of San Diego-area businesspeople, developers, designers, strategic advisors, community leaders, community supporters, students and job seekers.

Carlsbad’s thriving startup culture and business community

The City of Carlsbad is committed to ensuring our business community, including startups, has the appropriate tools and resources to grow and expand. In fact, Carlsbad’s economy grew by $1 billion in 2021 to $14.6 billion, second only in the region to the City of San Diego, according to a report presented to the City Council earlier this year.
