About the plan

The City of Carlsbad’s Parks & Recreation Department promotes health, wellness and social connections through a wide variety of public spaces and programs. To ensure these offerings continue to reflect the needs, values and priorities of the community, the department has created an updated master plan. This plan will be used to guide and make decisions about new and existing park amenities, recreational programs and investments for the next seven years.

The City Council adopted the updated Parks & Recreation Department Master Plan on Sept. 26, 2023. The Parks & Recreation Commission and Senior Commission both recommended City Council approval of the master plan update on Sept. 18, 2023.
