Chief Christie Calderwood 

I am honored to serve as the City of Carlsbad’s 11^th Chief of Police. It is my distinct pleasure to lead the men and women of this incredible police department.

We place tremendous value on the relationships and community partnerships that have been built between the citizens of Carlsbad and the members of the Carlsbad Police Department. The men and women of this department are constantly striving to make the city safer and are truly a group of highly competent, hard-working, dedicated individuals that serve with integrity and professionalism.

Communication is absolutely paramount in building and maintaining trust and I believe that we should be fully transparent in our actions. We value community policing as well as the opportunities to interact with our community members in-person. We look forward to events like the biannual Citizen Police Academy, the PD/FD Open House, National Night Out, and Coffee with a Cop.

Our department provides communication tools via social media platforms that include Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Nextdoor and YouTube. You can also provide us feedback through the online reporting tools and the City app.

The job of a police officer is challenging and continually evolving. It is important for police officers to have the support of their community and their police chief to be successful and accomplish the mission.  They will always have my support when they are professional, follow department policy, and treat everyone they meet with dignity and respect.

I recognize the badge of my office as a symbol of public faith and I look forward to implementing future strategies that will not only serve the citizens of Carlsbad, but also the employees of this amazing department that selflessly serve the citizens of Carlsbad.
