Dogs and Parks

The City of Carlsbad welcomes dogs at Ann D. L'Heureux Dog Park, Alga Norte Dog Park and Poinsettia Dog Park. Leashed dogs are also allowed on citywide trails. Dogs are not allowed in any other city park or on beaches within the city.

Plastic bag dispensers and receptacles for cleanup are available for your convenience at dog parks and along trails. Please be a good neighbor and clean up after your dog.

Maintenance Schedule

Poinsettia Dog Park undergoes regular maintenance for the comfort and safety of dogs and their owners. Other dog parks are maintained as needed. The dog park will be closed for scheduled maintenance as follows:

Hours and Location

  • Open daily from 8 a.m. - sunset
  • Located at 2700 Carlsbad Village Drive, one-half mile east of El Camino Real.

Features

Carlsbad’s original dog park provides 13,200 square feet of fenced area for dogs to play and exercise. The name of the white poodle featured on the park sign is Fletcher. The dog was owned by Ann D. L’Heureux, a community leader whose efforts led to the creation of Carlsbad’s first dog park. The park was named for Mrs. L’Heureux in 2006.

Relax under the eucalyptus trees while meeting new friends and neighbors.
