Pools
City of Carlsbad pools are open for lap swim, recreation swim, private swimming lessons and water fitness.

Competition pool & instructional pool
Weekdays: 6 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Weekends: 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Maintenance Hour Closure: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8-9 a.m.
Lap swim
Lap swim is available to all patrons who are swimming continuous laps. A pace clock, kickboards and pull-buoys are available on deck. For detailed information about 25 yard and 50 meter lap swimming please call any aquatic facility.
- Patrons are encouraged to share lanes. Please Note: No one is guaranteed sole use of a lane.
- In order to maximize the number of lanes available, long course offerings have been suspended until further notice.
Recreation swim
Recreation swim is available to patrons of all ages. An adult must accompany children under 8 in the water. One child under 3 is admitted free with a full paying adult. To enter deep water you must demonstrate your swimming ability to the lifeguard. Children under 10 years of age must have continuous on-site parental supervision. Classes, special events and programs are not included; rates are subject to change. Swim lesson registration does not include admission to recreation or lap swim or any other programs. Swim lesson participants may enter the facility ten minutes prior to their lesson and must exit within ten minutes after their class ends. Please check with the office staff for lessons admission.

- Parents must be in the water and within arm’s reach of all children under 8 years old at all times.
- No inflatables, floaties, rafts, mermaid tails or water wings permitted.
- U.S. Coast Guard approved life vests only.
- Life vests available for day use.

Monroe Street Pool
The new pool pump has been successfully installed and safety checks are underway. The pool is expected to reopen Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 6 a.m. and resume regular operating hours and programming from then on.
Monroe Street Pool membership passes will continue to be accepted at Alga Norte Aquatic Center until Jan. 29. If you would like to resume a paused Monroe Street Pool membership, please email parksandrec@carlsbadca.gov or call the Alga Norte Aquatics Center at 442-339-5777.

The City of Carlsbad’s Monroe Street Pool is 38 years old and requires maintenance to remain operational and in compliance with current health and building codes.
